Making the right choice when selecting a dentist to perform your cosmetic implant is crucial. With so many dentists and practitioners offering dental implants at a variety of different prices it can be hard to identify who are the true professionals.

The plethora of reality TV ‘makeover’ programmes has raised the awareness of cosmetic dentistry and with the service being so readily available it pays to be discerning when choosing the right dentist for your cosmetic implant.

Questions to ask your cosmetic dentist

To ensure that the dentist you choose is skilled in both implant and cosmetic dentistry, it is recommend that you ask the following questions before undergoing any surgical treatment.

Is he qualified to do it? And if yes, what qualifications does he have?

Will you receive a detailed consultation with the dentist and a written treatment plan together with an estimate before undergoing treatment? Any professional cosmetic dentist will have no problem committing to this

Do they take photographs and records of every case?

What kind of references and testimonials do they have?

Is your cosmetic dental implant surgeon on the register (see http://www.gdc-uk.org) and are they up to date with the latest techniques in clinical cosmetic dentistry? What is the latest training they have done?

How many cosmetic implants has the dentist placed? This will give you a good idea of their experience level.

What cosmetic implant system are they using? There are several on the market and some are more effective than others. Do your research beforehand and identify a system that is well respected in the industry.

What kind of aftercare is available? Is there a good plan in place or is it limited?

Wisdom tooth removal.

I had my lower wisdom tooth removed. To say that I was a nervous patient was an understatement. The dentist was very understanding and explained the process in stages where I could ask questions. Even though I was really panicking inside the staff had a true sense of calm and the tooth removal was quick and uneventful. I originally wanted sedation but felt confident to go without. The aftercare information was very useful. I experienced a first class service here!
