Dental bridges are a fantastic form of restorative dentistry, which should be considered as a solution for missing teeth. Both affordable and effective, the false teeth are anchored onto their healthy neighbours, to replace the gap caused by one or more missing teeth.
A typical dental bridge generally consists of a pontic, or false tooth used to replace the missing tooth, and two crowns, which serve to anchor the false tooth in place.
There are many types of dental bridges available to restore the natural appearance of your smile.
Why is it important to replace a tooth?
Aside of the cosmetic reasons for replacing a lost tooth it is important to preserve the structure of the mouth. With a tooth missing the surrounding teeth can begin to move and the bite will be affected. With no tooth in place the gum also begins to recede, which in turn can affect the structure of the face.
What do I need, a bridge or implant?
A bridge is a dental restoration where the teeth adjacent to the gap are cut down and then the bridge is fitted over those teeth and gap, effectively "bridging the gap". This can sometimes reduce the life span of the adjacent teeth. . An implant can replace single or multiple teeth. Sometimes patient will need implants and bridges when a large span is needed. Implants require no treatment to existing teeth.

Tell me moreI had my lower wisdom tooth removed. To say that I was a nervous patient was an understatement. The dentist was very understanding and explained the process in stages where I could ask questions. Even though I was really panicking inside the staff had a true sense of calm and the tooth removal was quick and uneventful. I originally wanted sedation but felt confident to go without. The aftercare information was very useful. I experienced a first class service here!
