Routine examinations

Regular checkups are essential for maintaining good oral health. During your routine checkup, your dentist will check for signs of tooth decay and gum disease. They will also carry out essential oral cancer screening.You will have the opportunity to ask questions about your oral health and how to care for your teeth. If you're curious about cosmetic dentistry treatments, you'll also have the opportunity to ask questions and explore your options. We recommend attending a routine checkup every 6 months.

It is important to attend on a regular basis to ensure your gums and teeth remain healthy. Your dentist will discuss with you how often you should attend your check up appointments. This could be anywhere between 3 and 24 months.

During your routine dental checkup, you can expect your dentist to ask questions about your oral health and about how you care for your teeth. They will examine your teeth, gums and tongue. They might take X-rays if more information is needed. If clinically required, they will also remove plaque and tartar buildup from your teeth. And finally, they will carry out oral cancer screening to protect you.

Yes, sedation dentistry is available if you are a very nervous patient. We can provide you with medication to take before your appointment that will allow you to relax while still remaining awake and alert. If you choose sedation dentistry, you will need to have someone with you when you go home.
