Why choosing a dentist for your teeth whitening treatment is the best option?

Woman And Apple

Teeth whitening is extremely popular in the UK and as a result more and more companies are setting up to offer teeth whitening and it’s also being offered in several beauty salons. What you may not have realised is that unless the treatment is being carried out by a dental professional who is a member of the General Dental Council, the treatment they are carrying out is actually illegal.

Teeth whitening is a form of dentistry and should only be carried out by a dentist or another regulated dental professional, such as a dental hygienist or dental therapist. DIY home teeth whitening kits are also available but these could put your oral health at risk if they have not been approved by a trained dentist.

If you go to a beauty salon or anywhere else for treatment then you run the risk of the treatment causing some harm or simply not working properly. Typical problems that could happen are ineffective treatments that do not last very long and mouth guards that do not fit your mouth properly causing bleaching gel to leak and potentially causing blistering and sensitivity to your gums.

Teeth whitening is also not suitable for everyone and it’s unlikely you will be asked the appropriate questions and given a proper assessment by a non-professional to see if you can have the treatment.

Your teeth are too important to risk

This is why you should always choose a dentist for your teeth whitening treatment. You should always check that they are members of the General Dental Council and that they have good experience in offering teeth whitening as part of their range of  treatments.

Bhandal Dentists are members of the GDC (General Dental Council) and all of our dentists are highly experienced and trained in carrying out teeth whitening treatments. Your teeth and oral health are far too important to risk so if you would like to find out more about teeth whitening and find out if you are suitable for treatment then please contact us now.

Wisdom tooth removal.

I had my lower wisdom tooth removed. To say that I was a nervous patient was an understatement. The dentist was very understanding and explained the process in stages where I could ask questions. Even though I was really panicking inside the staff had a true sense of calm and the tooth removal was quick and uneventful. I originally wanted sedation but felt confident to go without. The aftercare information was very useful. I experienced a first class service here!
