How to decide if lip fillers are right for you

Lip Fillers Coventry

Non-invasive cosmetic surgery procedures are becoming more mainstream by the day. Fillers and anti-wrinkle injections were once the worst-kept secrets of celebrities and models, but they have slowly found their way into the rest of society. Lip fillers are one of the most requested beauty salon treatments – and with good reason.

If you’re thinking about lip fillers, you may be wondering if they are right for you. With so many options available, and so many things to consider, it can be overwhelming for newcomers. In this guide, we will outline some of the things you need to know about lip fillers and how to achieve the perfect look.

What are lip fillers?

Lip fillers are a type of dermal filler which uses a needle to place the filler substance at strategic points on the face, usually the lips and cheeks. Lip fillers are used to increase volume in the lip area, resulting in a more youthful appearance. Silicone is no longer used as a lip filler. Instead, lip fillers contain hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance found in the body – albeit in smaller quantities.

Hyaluronic acid is a substance which attracts and holds on to water, which is why you may see it in your favourite skin cream. When it is injected into the body, it takes a few months to break down, so lip fillers are not a permanent solution and will need to be “topped up”. This is a good thing, as it means if you aren’t happy with the way your fillers look, you don’t have to have a second procedure to reverse it.

Who can benefit from lip fillers?

If your lips are naturally thin or are getting thinner with age, lip fillers can offer a quick and simple solution. Some people have naturally thin lips and may wish to increase the volume. Some people find that their lips become thinner with age. As we get older, the collagen in our skin breaks down and isn’t replaced at the same rate. Some people also like the look of larger lips, even if they are young and have average sized lips. It’s all down to personal preference.

How do you know if lip fillers will suit you?

Some people will not suit lip fillers. If you have very delicate features, lip fillers can overwhelm your face and make everything seem out of proportion. Likewise, if you have a small chin, large lips will stand out a lot more than if you have a strong jawline. The good thing about lip fillers is that you can decide how much filler you want.

How much lip filler should I get?

This will all depend on the look you are trying to achieve. Lip fillers are typically measured in increments of 0.1ml. It will usually take 0.1 to 1ml to achieve your desired look. Those looking for a more dramatic effect might choose to go for 2ml fillers. When deciding if lip fillers are right for you, it’s important to manage your expectations. Work with a qualified aesthetician to achieve the right look for your facial structure.

How often should I get lip fillers?

Lip fillers will work instantly and the effects will typically last around 6 to 18 months, depending on the amount of filler used and the placement. Many people will renew their fillers every 4-6 months to maintain their desired look.

Where can I get lip fillers?

You can visit a beauty salon or aesthetician for dermal fillers. Dentists are also uniquely qualified to be able to carry out lip filler procedures. Before undergoing treatment, always check that the practitioner is on a register to prove they meet the necessary training standards. Registers include:

●      British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS)

●      Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP)

●      Save Face

●      British Association of Cosmetic Nurses (BACN)

We also offer lip fillers at Bhandal Dentistry. As mentioned above, dentists are uniquely qualified to carry out this type of aesthetic treatment. Dentists spend a long time studying the structures of the face, so they know where to place the filler for maximum effect. They are also very experienced using needles in a safe and pain-free way. And finally, the dentist’s office provides a safe and sterile environment that you know is safe.

Wisdom tooth removal.

I had my lower wisdom tooth removed. To say that I was a nervous patient was an understatement. The dentist was very understanding and explained the process in stages where I could ask questions. Even though I was really panicking inside the staff had a true sense of calm and the tooth removal was quick and uneventful. I originally wanted sedation but felt confident to go without. The aftercare information was very useful. I experienced a first class service here!
